In the end...it's all about the love!

Another crazy week was had at our house! We had parent/teacher conferences, Valentine's Day parties, Dr. appointments, and then my husband decides to scare the crap out of me just to name a few things. It seemed every day last week, brought us something to contend with. I was so ready for the long weekend, by the time it came. The boys were off on Friday and that little blessing was one we utilized to the fullest. I'm not sure why, but right now life seems to be a bit crazy and we don't even have sports thrown into the mix this season. What in the world? I have learned to stop, take a deep breath, and just enjoy every moment to its fullest because honestly, I can't change the situations we are faced with....so, why fret! That little lesson saved me last week, that's for sure!

The boys parent/teacher conferences went great. We were very pleased with the results of them.  I did shed a few tears at Colin's, but guess what, I'm allowed. LOL! That boy of mine, is just moving mountains and I'm so darn proud of him. He did well at his Valentine party, as well.  I was told he didn't care for the craft, so they took a break and then he was fine.  Now, we have found that Colin does better at school parties, if we're not there. As hard as that little fact is, I still had to remove myself from the equation, because yet again this journey isn't about me. Having him enjoy the party, as much as he can, is so totally worth only seeing pictures. I also had to forfeit Ethan's party this year, because Brenton wanted to go. Yes, he's the dad and yes, he wanted to go and be a room "dad" this year for the party.  Ethan was super excited and had the best time with his dad. I have to be honest and say, with the week I was having, I was so thankful I didn't have to get ready on Thursday and go out of the house. LOL!
Kindergarten ♥ Day fun

3rd Grade ♥ Day fun w/ Daddy
The weekend was filled with a few different things, but mostly we were home.  Sunday was Valentine's Day and yes, we celebrate EVERYTHING around here, so our Sunday was filled with lots of hearts, pink, red, valentines, and family. The boys loved their Vday baskets that we created together for them and Katee, she loved her valentine, as well.  I don't know, some might think we are stupid for doing things like this?! My philosophy, they are little once! Why not make the most out of every moment? It doesn't have to be super expensive, but simply a way to make life enjoyable and sweet along the way. To each their own, I guess! As for us, we will continue with our traditions EVERY single one! LOL!!  We also had arranged a sleepover for Ethan on Sunday evening w/ his best buddies. I just love how this house comes to life with even more kids in it. It's not about the messes, but rather the fun that I hear coming out of each and every giggle that I hear. Yes, the house gets quite messy, but I have no problem with cleaning up when it's time for them to head back home. The memories are so worth it!!!

Anyway, hope you all had a great Valentine's Day with your family and friends. We enjoyed every ounce of it here!

These Boys of Mine!!!!

This past week has been a crazy one! I swear 3rd grade is going to be the life of me!!!  For some reason, which I'm sure is because of the wonderful testing that the state has thrown on these kids & has been a dang thought in my head since the moment Ethan started kindergarten, this year has been tough!  I used to think I had time! Time to prepare him, time to get him "test" ready, time to help him feel good about this damn thing and to tell you the truth..."time" snuck up on me. UGH!!!! We are in a great school system, so it's not that, it's just my Ethan is not a tester! When I think about him the best way I can describe him, is remember the story about the tortoise and the hare? Well, he's my real life tortoise...slow and steady at EVERYTHING he does! Now, I say that and I need to state that he's not stupid, by no means, he's just not quick & this is with every dang thing in his life. I ask him to put his backpack away and the kid makes 3 stops before hanging the thing on his hook in the back entry. I'm telling you, he stops and smells the roses (so to speak) any chance he can. Ethan loves life & I ♥ this about him! He loves everybody! He can walk into a room and his love for life spills out of him! He's not perfect, but I love that most about him. He's fun! He has a sense of humor like his father and his laugh = adorable! He knows his abilities, but his lack of confidence sometimes gets in the way that he forgets to try and that's where we come in, as his parents, to push him just a bit more. His heart is so big that he hates to hurt feelings. I tell my husband often that his heart is bigger than his head! He's sensitive! He's a lover & by no means a fighter! Yet, we are trying our hardest to teach him how to defend himself, so he can stand up to a few or I should say 1 that just won't leave him alone. These days, that's what I'm struggling with. I get that not everyone is going to like him, but why the constant nagging? Just leave him alone! Simple & easy, right! LOL! It's part of growing up, which I get, but goodness it's getting old. I also understand Ethan is bigger than most in his class by weight & height, yet still my "gentle giant" doesn't use that to his advantage, no matter how often it's pointed out from his peers! He's amazing!!! His heart is so pure that even I am in awe! His love for Jesus is written all over him and he's not afraid to tell you about him either. I love that! He's 8 years old and loves God like no other kid I know at his age! That, I'm super proud of!! Anyway, I think from all of this you can gather that I just adore this boy of mine. hehe!  Every, single ounce of him I love! If you're lucky enough to know him, you'll never forget him that's for sure! He has a love for the Buckeyes, which he had no choice in that matter.  From birth, that boy was stuffed in every Ohio State outfit we could find. His first word, well "ma ma" was his first (of course) but "touchdown" and "Go Bucks" were a close 2nd.  So, a Buckeye Fan is something he now loves to be (by his own choice) and this year for Valentine's Day he specifically asked for a "Buckeyes" box. That request, made his dad's eyes light up. LOL!  We had a ball, no pun intended, making it this weekend. It turned out to be our favorite, thus far but I think the cutting & all the double-sided tape had Ethan second guessing his request midway. ☺ Overall, Ethan LOVED it and that's what mattered.
We love Valentine's Day!

Colin, has a party too and he has a love for StoryBots, so he had to have his very own. It was fun to create it. However, he was in no mood for a photo shoot, LOL!

On Wednesday, last week, he got to celebrate his 100th day of school. He was to create an outfit that had 100 items on it and we, of course, had to represent with puzzle pieces.☻ He loved it and had a great day celebrating with his kindergarten class. He took part in the festivities, as well! YAY!!
100th day of school = 100 puzzle pieces

Last Friday, he  had another fun day with the wedding between Mr. Q & Miss U.  For this, he was to dress up for the wedding and he looked adorable, I just love dressing that kid! LOL!!!  Colin had a great time & he took part in the wedding festivities with the rest of his kindergarten class. YAYYYY, Colin...you go buddy!
all I wanted was 1 pic, but this is what I got. LOL!
Taking part in the ceremony, YAY YAY YAYYYYYY!!!
"dancing" at the reception!

I tell ya, these boys keep me hopping, but man I love their personalities and how fun they are making my life! Last week started out rocky, but by yesterday it was just fine! We had our own Super Bowl party here at the house.  I just love my family! We could have been somewhere else, but honestly there was no other place I'd rather have been. I just love making our own memories!!!  Anyway, we have another busy week ahead of us with parent teacher conferences, class parties, a long weekend, sleepovers, and whatever else we decide to fit in. Well, I have to get a mock spelling test created, so have a great week folks and....
