January, oh the month that brings the cold and snow turned out not to be so bad! Yes, we have used up all the snow days already, but boy have we embraced them! We've enjoyed the extra time being home! We're not the let's get bundled up to go out and play in it type, but we do enjoy what it brings and that's the slower pace of life. Cozing up with a warm cup of soup, looking out the window to see the snow fall, while watching a good movie is more our speed! LOL!
Now, that Colin is getting older, he understands "snow days" and he loves them! Doesnt like to be cold, but loves being home regardless! I mean what child doesn't, honestly! This year though, we've been able to truly enjoy each one, without worrying about getting him back to school! He's been able to get right back in the groove, regardless of longer than normal weekends. This year, no joke, has been huge growth for Colin and watching it unfold has been great! I'm not sure what it is, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with brain maturity! I'm finally learning to let go, but all the years of trying to stay ahead has taken its toll, so I'm not 100% but I'm definitely better! I'm better at allowing him to just go with the flow! Yes, I'm learning to not be so uptight! Yes, he needs his routines, but I'm learning that it's also important to show him that life has changes and he has to adapt! That's where we are w/him, teaching him more about life and giving him more personal responsibility! That's hard for me, BUT I know it's important and I'm getting better! And, I'm admitting it.....hahaha!
Ethan's freshman year is going well and want to talk about growing up....omg, don't get me started! That boy, is blowing us away too! Not too many more years left with him here full-time, but this season we are in is going well! Loving every part of it! I love our conversations, but what I love most, he's not afraid to have them! For that, I'm thankful! I enjoy him so much!!!!
This month, we also celebrated the guy who is our rock. The guy I'm so thankful I have the opportunity to do life with....Brenton, turned 44! It's so weird to think I remember him at the age our oldest is now! Life has been a journey, but each stepping stone led us here! God, definitely had a plan and once I got out of my own way, I embraced it and trusted! Now, the boy who had my heart as a girl, is still protecting it all these years later! Love my guy and love celebrating him.....
