As golf season is coming to a close for Ethan, soccer season is starting up for Colin. It's fall ball for him and it starts after Labor Day. I'm always skeptical when it comes to Colin and the activities we choose for him, because I wonder if he likes them? Soccer, has been one of those activities! I'm just not 100% that it's something he wants to do? However, Soccer-4-All, is such a great organization that we've liked him being a part of it. Colin, is a ham! The past few seasons, his favorite thing to do is run around and have people chase him. Unless you were holding his hand and making him kick the ball in for the goal, he wanted to be off running around. So, I've just been pondering....is it really worth the time to be doing it, is it worth having these buddies get up on a Saturday morning, is it worth us driving to Dover, and is it worth the money? These questions go through my mind with every season and the answer I always come back to is...Yes! Yes, it is worth it! I have no clue what each season will bring, but we do think it's worth him getting out there and if nothing else it's getting him out of the house and doing something active!
So, last week, when we were preparing Brenton mentioned me staying home, "You know Melinda with you there, he is just not going to do what he needs to do." Deep down, I knew he was right; however, how do you not go? I mean this has been the biggest struggle for me, but I know deep down his growth is far more important than my feelings. Besides, he will have his dad there and that's what is important for atleast one of us to always be present. I love that Brenton loves to be such a big part of our boy's lives, because that has calmed me with this whole thing. I am the one Colin turns to for comfort and when I'm at his activities, he will not perform. He is my shadow! So, guess what..Mom has had to step back, so he will step up! And, step up is exactly what he did last Saturday.☺
It's so fun to watch his growth and I have a good feeling that this season, is going to be the one! The one that he does on his own and liking it! Daddy is a good pusher, so when he sent me the below pics my heart just burst! I mean really, the proof was in the pudding, because Colin was doing it! Walked to the field with his ball, by himself, even! WHAT? I just sat, at home, looking at the pictures and knew I was exactly where I needed to be. Like I said, his growth is far more important! ♥
