Back To The Grind 📚🎒🍎

Hard to believe the boys finished their first week of school, but reality is they did! I wasn't sure what to expect this year, seeing they've been home since March, but overall it went OK. We were prepared! We spent the last few weeks getting supplies, new clothes, and new shoes...you know, all the normal back-to-school stuff. Yet, this year would require a new necessity...a face mask!😷

I'm not sure what or how to feel about these dang things, but the conclusion is the boys, well Ethan, had to have one to return. He wanted to get back to school and chose to wear a mask to get back to the building and see his friends. Colin, on the other hand, wasn't required under the state wide mandate, however, we were asked to get a doctor's slip for them to have in his file at school. I about had a panic attack, but I then reminded myself this might be a blessing in disquise and force us to get Colin to another doctor. He hated going to the pediatrician's office, so Brenton contacted our doctor and he was happy to see Colin under the short notice to get him established and provide the slip we needed! The good Lord amazes me everyday and this was one of those times, because we literally had 1 week!

We enjoyed our last weekend of summer break here at home and then it seemed Wednesday came so quick, too quick!  Truly, I just watched as the boys got on the bus and I just kept thinking 5 months sure did go fast. Time always seems to do that and we can't stop it, so I don't know why it always seems to shock me, but it did! They did fine, the first day was fine and we made it through. School days, always bring a new dynamic to our daily lives and it's no different than anyone else, but I was looking forward to it this year. I don't feel we are created to be living this pandemic life with all these stipulations, but right now we have to I get it. So, that just made these school days a little more welcoming by giving us a little bit of our normalcy back!

Unfortunately, Colin didn't recognize Mrs. Jones with her mask on the 1st day and had a few tears until she got him to their room. That's where she was able to pull down the mask to show him. Poor buddy! However, once he fully recognized her, he sighed and said, "Hi Mrs. Shones."😊 It made me sad though, because I never thought about the mask in that way. I never thought he'd be scared and not recognize people. Man, I felt terrible! Overall though, it was ok and he made it through! Ethan, he made it through too. The only adjustment for him was needing a lighter mask. He has great teachers and is super excited to have most of his day with Caden this year.  I'm so hoping we can keep these kids in school and find a way to start living more normally again. Until then, we will do our part and do what it takes to keep our lives going down a positive path. Just hoping we can look back and smile at all this craziness we're living right now real soon!🤞
