Weekend Fun!!!

This weekend was such a great one!  It was our first "full" weekend after our vacation, so staying home and enjoying being home was nice.  It was Brenton's weekend back at the CC and that went well, too.  Yes, I said that...Brenton decided to go back to the golf course, after all.  I really enjoyed having him not working on the weekends, but after he was asked to go back and him pondering it for a few weeks, I knew he wanted to.  While on vacation, he got another text, so I knew it was going to happen.  I'm not upset about it, by no means, because I know my husband is a busy body and he he enjoys working out there.  So, I put on the "supportive" wife hat and off he went.  After a "welcome back" party for him and few gifts, it was nice to see the texts from him that it "felt good to be back" and with that, he's back to working 7 days a week!  In all honesty, I wish I had that work ethic!!!  Anyway, there are some perks to him doing this and that is golf privileges.  So, him and Ethan enjoyed the course yesterday and that put a smile on my face.

Love these 2

Another thing that we did this weekend was enjoyed 1-on-1 time with our boys!  Ethan and I had a "Date Night" while Daddy and Colin had "Buddy Time" enjoying things Colin likes to do, so they went bike riding, ate down at Tents of Grace, and visited family.  Brenton and I are trying really hard to make sure to give the boys this time and do whatever they want with just 1 one of us.  It's something we all are enjoying and it's been a great addition to our schedule.  Anyway, Ethan picked me & the movie Transformers 4 for our date, so after work on Friday I picked him up and off we went to the theater.  Of course, he had to dress the part, so I had a date with my very own Optimus Prime. LOL!  He's well known at the theater now and everyone always smiles when they see him coming.  I love hearing the comments and Ethan is in heaven, so it always is a fun time.  Here are a few pics of the boy's time with each of us this weekend....

"Catcher" in the Making!

I can not believe I have not posted about baseball, until now.  So, this post is going to be all about it!  LOL!!  Anyway, I don't know exactly when we got the sign-up sheet for baseball, but I think around February maybe,  and in all honesty I was so hoping Ethan wouldn't want to play.  I know that sounds terrible, but down here baseball is the sport everyone tends to go crazy over and I was just not wanting to be part of that crowd.  However, I couldn't not ask him if he wanted to do it, since ultimately it is his decision and when he said yes, I took a huge (internal) sigh!  Ethan, isn't the fastest kid or the littlest kid, so I was concerned he wasn't going to be able to handle the pressure (so to speak) when it came to the "game"!  I wasn't sure how he was going to react to the running or even striking out, but I put all my thoughts aside and looked at him w/ a huge smile to support his decision.  All of my "negative" thoughts and attitude went away about 2 weeks into it, when I saw how much he truly enjoyed playing.  He loved making friends, learning the game, but most importantly he loved having his "Daddy" as his coach.  You see, Brenton is good at pushing our boys...definitely better than me!  He pushes them to give a little bit more, to not give up, and to teach them what they need to know.  So, to my surprise, I was glad to see that throughout the season Ethan was getting it and all the thoughts that I had in the beginning were put back in my face, when he found his "spot" on the field.  Yes, that's right...my Ethan found that being the "catcher" was the place he would call home on the baseball diamond and let me just tell you, he did a wonderful job.  There's still a lot to learn, but he did great with it being his 1st  year doing it.  Overall, he had a great 1st season with IV baseball.  He learned valuable lessons and by all means, showed his #1 fan, that he has what it takes to "play ball"!  So proud of #9... =)

Goodbye Beach

It's so hard to believe that we have now come to the last day of our vacation.  It seemed so far away, to now almost a memory.  As I sit typing this post in our condo this morning, I'm so thankful for this time with my family, yet I'm truly ready to make the trek home.  It's been a fantastic vacation, from start to finish, and I think the week and a half that we choose to do this each year really makes a difference!  I think because it's enough time to be away, but when it's time to head back home we're ready and this year is no exception.  We didn't have any major weather to speak of this year, like we did last year with the tropical storm, but I will say its been HOT!  So hot in fact, we've actually enjoyed the 2 nights that we had evening rain showers to cool it down.  I feel like my skin is crawling, but it's nice to have some color again...LOL!  This week at the beach really has rejuvenated me, has given me the break that I needed to escape reality for a bit, and given me the chance to think while sand was between my toes! I love it here and the heat was something I needed after having such a cold, long winter! So many feelings are coming over me this morning, as I sit typing this waiting for the laundry to be finished and thinking about this place.  We've met some new people this week and Ethan has made some new friends, as well. When I was taking our laundry to the machines, I took a look around at such a quiet place, surrounded by beauty, that in a few hours would be saturated with people ready to enjoy their last day here at Suntide. It's awesome here, such a "homey" feeling and I love the fact that this very place is where my husband has so many memories as a boy, so to bring our boys here, is something I know he loves...but I too, very much.  We have 2 little fish on our hands and this week they have used every ounce of energy they had in the water....rather it be the pool or the gulf, they have swam their little hearts out.  I have loved watching Colin!  That little boy has been a gem and so fun to watch run back and forth from the beach to the gulf or counting 1-2-3 then jumping in the pool.  He was Mr. Independent and figured out how to swim to get from point A to point B wherever he was at the time. Brenton and I have truly just sat back and watched him and Ethan, neither really needing our help much.  I think this was the first vacation that we didn't have to run rampant trying to keep them entertained or getting them in and out of the water, its been nice to not feel so exhausted in the evenings. LOL!!  It's moments like these though that remind me how quickly life is moving, because I no longer have babies on my hands.  As our boys grow, it is this place that they will hold in their hearts...just like their daddy! Maybe one of these years, this might be the place we get to call home, but until then we will just escape here to get a break from reality!!! So, goodbye beach, it's been fun and I've loved you, but it is time to head back to Ohio!!! ;)
